The Mental Health Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation provides:

  • Resource and information
  • Mental Health Promotion Services i.e. seminars, workshops.
  • Advocacy and policy development

Contractually we work with the Mental Health Advocacy Coalition - a group which represents a number of mental health organisations across a wide range of sectors, to highlight issues of concern, provide policy advice to central and local government and offer ideas and ways of improving service co-ordination and delivery.

What is Autism (Mental Health Foundation)
This article gives an overview of what autism is,how it impacts on the family/whanau and discusses a range of treatments available and the research available guiding practise. It also discusses your rights and what to ask when accessing services.

The Mental Health Commission
The Commission's specific functions are defined by the Mental Health Commission Act 1998. There are three key functions set out in the legislation:

  • To monitor and report to Government on the performance of the Ministry of Health and Health Funding Authority in the implementation of the Government's National Mental Health Strategy
  • To work with the sector to promote better understanding by the public of mental illness, and eliminate discrimination and;
  • To strengthen the mental health workforce.
