Mental Health Services
Headspace
Headspace is a website for young people in Auckland and all over New Zealand, as well as their families and schools. Their aim is to help young people when they become stressed. Some of the pages are aimed at young people in Auckland but most of our site is for everyone. You will find links to other sites that give you more good information. In particular, Maori and Pacific Island mental health.
The Kari Centre
Headspace is part of the Kari Centre. This is a centre where specialist treatment is available for some, but not all, of the problem areas discussed on this website. Established in 1996, the Kari centre provides services to 0-18 year olds experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems, and their family/whanau, and who live in central Auckland. The services are only available following referral from a General Practitioner or other person who knows the young person in a professional capacity (e.g School Guidance Counsellor or CYF social worker). There are three similar services in other parts of Auckland (see Auckland survival kit)

Werry Centre
The Werry Centre, named after Professor John Werry, has a national focus and is multidisciplinary, multicultural and will be run in the accordance with the Treaty of Waitangi. The aim of the Werry Centre is to improve the mental health of children and adolescent people in New Zealand and whose staff, in a consultation with the Workforce Development Advisory Group, is responseible for progressing a number of initiatives in Tuutahitia te wero, which are funded by the Minsitry of Health.
